Sometimes you need that is a quick and silly saying that reminds me to take a breather in life. It can mean catching those extra 10 minutes of sleep after your alarm goes off. It can mean having a to-do-list a mile long and instead taking the time to sit down and call a best friend. It can mean going out with your favorite people on a weeknight even when you feel too tired to move.
Whatever it means to you, I hope you enjoy my little breather in life. Because sometimes you need that.

I’m David Larsen’s mom (from Kirkwood). I just sent you a FB friend request–I saw your comment on Liz Morningstar’s status update and went to your page because I wondered what you were up to (hope that doesn’t sound creepy or anything)–I don’t want you to think it’s weird that I sent the friend request–and there’s no need to “accept” it–but I saw that one of your links was The Bakersfield Californian–my brother-in-law is Herb Benham (who works there) and my sister is Sue Benham (his wife and the city councilwoman). My folks live there too. I had no idea you were out there and I just wanted to say hi and that it’s really a small world. Hope you’re doing well.

So glad to hear from you! That’s not creepy at all, I’m constantly checking blogs, and it’s always nice to reconnect.
I worked for The Bakersfield Californian for about five months right out of college, and met Herb a couple times. He’s a great columnist. I never met his wife, though.
It is a small world. Bakersfield of all places is a funny place to have a connection.
Have you visited them there? It’s quite the interesting place. You are pretty much in a desert.
Now, I’m in working in Lodi, a town about 40 miles south of Sacramento, working at a newspaper covering City Hall for Galt and Lodi. I really enjoy it.
I can’t wait to follow you on Facebook and on your blog. Congratulations on getting your books published! That is awesome.
