Reaching the Pinnacle

April 25, 2010

On Easter Sunday (I know it was ages ago), we went hiking at the beautiful Pinnacles National Monument. We watched raptors fly slightly above the jagged peaks that were formed by lava.

I went with Lauren’s entire family, and it was so good to finally meet all of them. I made this little barrette for Miss Sophia, and she just so happened to be wearing purple! Notice Lauren creeping in the background.

Little Joseph was ready to go, Peeps in hand. He made it about a quarter of a mile before he needed to be traded from back to back, but he still was a great sport.

One thing he was not a fan of was the leash backpack.

This was the ominous view from the parking lot. Yes, we climbed up and around and then down in five hours.

One of my favorite parts of the trip is every time you turn another corner each view looks completely different.

Lauren’s cousin, Stacie, was taking in the view. This was so lovely to climb up and overlook this huge rock.

With the help of his dad, even little Joseph got to check out the view from the rock. Every two seconds, Lauren and I were stopping to snap pictures. I think the group wanted us to speed up, but are grateful to have Lauren’s beautiful photos. You can go see her lovely pics here and here.

This kid really freaked me out because he was standing so close to the edge, but it made for a fun photo.

Right after that, we also saw a slide that I don’t think most people would want to take a trip down.

Yay! This was so much fun! I’m so glad you could go with us. It made the roadtrip with the parentals so much better. Haha.
